Carolina Uribe
Program Specialist - Contract
I am Carolina Uribe, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with more than 25 years of experience in social services and mental health. My professional journey began in Peru, where I trained as a psychologist, and continued in the United States after earning my master’s degree in social work. I currently serve at Samuel Rodgers Health Center in the Behavioral Health Clinic, where I provide care and support to individuals and families navigating behavioral health challenges. Prior to this role, I worked for over 18 years as a Case Manager at Mattie Rhodes Center, an experience that deepened my understanding of community needs and strengthened my commitment to advocacy.
Beyond my clinical practice, I am actively engaged in advancing Latino health. I serve on the Community Advisory Board for JUNTOS – Center for Advancing Latino Health – offering guidance to improve science, education, and service programming across Kansas. I am also a member of the University of Kansas Cancer Center–Masonic Cancer Alliance CAB, where I ensure that the priorities of the Latino community are represented in cancer care initiatives. My involvement includes work with the Hispanic Women Against Cancer Coalition, Start at Zero, and most recently, Gilda’s Club, where I lead Spanish-speaking support groups for cancer survivors.
As a 12-year breast cancer survivor and someone who recently lost my youngest brother to bladder cancer, I bring both professional expertise and personal resilience to my work. My heritage and lived experience continue to shape my mission: to strengthen community ties and empower individuals through compassionate care and advocacy.
